Kansas Healthy Yards and Communities is an environmental initiative sponsored by Kansas State University Research and Extension.  The program's mission is to have yards and communities that enhance our quality of life through earth-friendly practices.

Kansas Healthy Yards and Communities started from local programs in Johnson and Douglas Counties in Kansas. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment provided financial assistance to the Douglas County Green Yards and Communities project through EPA Section 319 Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Grant #C9007405 12.
